AT’s January Cure Assignment #1: Quick Confidence-Boosting Declutter
Choose a drawer, any drawer! Socks, undies, a jumbled makeup drawer in the bathroom, or maybe even the dreaded junk drawer in the kitchen. Maybe you want to clear your t-shirt drawer or where you store the remotes.
What I Did:
I had already planned to work on my bedroom and it just so happens I started with the drawers. I purchased two small 2-drawer cabinets for my walk-in closet and placed my bras/panties in one cabinet and t-shirts/shorts in the other. And, while I was at it, I “cleaned up” my walk-in, by putting things up properly (also known as picking up the clothes, etc etc from the floor). I didn’t do a complete job (like purging) but my closet is looking good. So maybe I am just a little ahead of the game but its given me confidence to keep up with the “Cure”.
ONGOING: I plan to do at least one drawer/cabinet a week in my kitchen/dining room until its complete.
Pictures coming soon!
Apartment Therapy SAYS DO THIS:
Choose a drawer, any drawer! Socks, undies, a jumbled makeup drawer in the bathroom, or maybe even the dreaded junk drawer in the kitchen. Maybe you want to clear your t-shirt drawer or where you store the remotes. Totally up to you!
Open it up and go to work – toss what you should (you’ll know it when you see it), move stuff you can pass on or donate to a separate shopping bag for now (we’ll deal with this bag later in the week, no worries!) and move whatever doesn’t really belong in this drawer to where it does belong. Then, do a quick clean of the bottom of the drawer with a damp cloth, replace the keepers and pat yourself on the back. Done!
